In the Spotlight

In the Spotlight is The Student Workshop's Question and Answer event for drama students. It is a chance for members of The Student Workshop to hear theatre professionals talk about their exciting and interesting experiences, influences and professional work that we rarely get to hear about. In the Spotlight has featured both speakers from within the department as well as those working in established theatre companies such as Frantic Assembly.

In the Spotlight aims to inform and inspire students, offering them a wider perspective on the theatre industry, its various careers and disciplines, as well as giving them a chance to talk one on one to professionals in an intimate post-talk Question and Answer session. Taking place once a term, the event has seen such guests as Alex Murdoch (Cartoon de Salvo), Elliot Cowan (Lost in Austen, Alexander), Ed Collier (The Lyric Hammersmith) Scott Graham (Frantic Assembly) and had its most prestigious guest in June 2009 in world renowned actor and director Alan Rickman.
