The Creative Learning Officer oversees The Student Workshop’s Physical Theatre Ensemble (launched in 2010). A subsection of creative learning dedicated to exploring Physical Theatre within Royal Holloway’s Drama Department, the initiative offers students of all abilities the chance to participate in both student and professionally run workshops, as well as the chance to explore their own ideas through workshop leadership. If you are interested in leading a workshop or have a request of the content of a workshop, please contact your Physical Theatre Ensemble Representatives:
Jay Douglass (Jay.Douglas.2009@live.rhul.ac.uk)
Katie Overstall (katie.overstall.2010@live.rhul.ac.uk)
for more information.
Jay is a 3rd Year Drama student, a qualified fight performer at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London and general all round nice guy. At the end of his 1st Year he created the Physical Theatre Ensemble to bridge a void in creative and physical training outside of curriculum hours at Royal Holloway. After its first successful year, he is back again to ensure PTE keeps going from strength to strength. He hopes new and existing students will continue to engage with the fantastic opportunities presented not only by PTE but The Student Workshop as a whole.

Katie is a second year Drama student here at RoHo and has been an active member of The Student Workshop since playing the part of Peter Quince in A Midsummer Night's Dream in her first term. Having never studied physical theatre before, she was very excited to find out about the Physical Theatre Ensemble (PTE) and joined as soon as she could!
