Grace Holliday is a Drama and Creative Writing student returning from a year studying at Washington College in America, back for my 4th Year at Holloway!
“As part of my role as Social Secretary, it's my job to organise events and tickets for members of The Student Workshop, and make sure help is offered with the social side of productions. The start of year social and the end of year social are two big events, being great ways to get to know people and socialise, and then eventually to say goodbye to people (and socialise, of course!) In between that time there will be a Christmas Social and an Easter Social (mandatory fancy dress as rabbits, no?). I'm also looking to organise Pub Quizzes and Theatre Trips to London, all brilliant opportunities to enjoy a night out other than the Union, get to know other students and maybe even find a team to put together your own bid for a Student Workshop show! In line with this, another aim of mine is to offer support to those students who are putting on a play with The Student Workshop and are looking for support with their launch nights. While I will be booking their venues, I also want to offer my help as they prepare, and on the actual night of the launch. I directed The History Boys with The Student Workshop in 2009 so I know from personal experience just how much useful an extra helping hand can be! For those of you taking Writing and Performance, it's also my job to get hold of the tickets for the shows you have to see and make them available for you to buy easily. My biggest aim, however, is to make sure that the views of everyone are considered, not just those on the committee. I genuinely believe that a group of people is always going to come up with more ideas than just one individual, and I really want to implement that this year. So - any ideas, inspiration, even complaints, do come to me or email me, or even fill in the little box on the website and let me know!”
