The Student Workshop run workshops each term to aid student development and extra-curricular work alongside their degree.
Every year The Student Workshop offers a number of bi-termly workshops for members of the Drama Department encompassing a range of disciplines. Each workshop is run by industry professionals, thus providing a fantastic opportunity for students to develop their existing skills as well as to learn new ones. Each workshop is subsidised by The Student Workshop so that our members can participate at a minimal cost.
In the past participants have had the chance to work with highly regarded practitioners from within the department such as Dick McCaw, who ran a Laban workshop in 2009 to further his research. Over the years The Student Workshop has also worked with people at the forefront of the theatre industry, working with such professionals as Jonathan Jaynes (LAMDA) who teaches Stage Combat, companies such as Frantic Assembly and Complicite who hosted movement-based workshops, and Cartoon de Salvo who focused on long form improvisation.
This year looks to continue the success of our workshops with various sessions already booked for Academic year 2011-2012. More information on our upcoming exciting events will be appearing online and be sent out to members via email soon, so be sure to book early to avoid disappointment!
